কোনো তরুণী বা মহিলাকে পাশ দিয়ে যেতে দেখলেই তাদের দিকে কমেন্ট করে। এতে মেয়েরা বা মহিলারা খুব বিব্রত ও অসম্মান বোধ করে। ইভ-টিজাররা এমনকি মেয়ের মাকে উত্যক্ত করতেও দ্বিধা করেন না। ফলে মেয়েদের জন্য পরিস্থিতি খুবই কঠিন হয়ে পড়েছে। কেউ ইভ-টিজিং এর প্রতিবাদ করলে, টিজাররা হিংস্র হয়ে ওঠে এবং প্রতিবাদকারীকে হুমকি দেয়। এমনকি তারা মেয়েদের হত্যা বা শারীরিক নির্যাতনের হুমকিও দেয়। এই বিষয়ে, পরিস্থিতি সহ্য করা খুব কঠিন। মেয়েরা বাইরে যেতে ভয় পায়। এমনকি স্কুল-কলেজে যেতেও তারা নিরাপত্তাহীন বোধ করে।

সরকার এই অপপ্রচার বন্ধে যথেষ্ট সচেতন হয়েছে। সরকার ইতিমধ্যেই ইভটিজিং বন্ধে মোবাইল কোর্টের ক্ষমতা দিয়েছে। যে কেউ, নারীদের ছত্রভঙ্গ করার জন্য হয়রানির অভিযোগে দোষী সাব্যস্ত হলে এক বছরের জেল বা প্রায় 70 ডলার জরিমানা বা উভয় দণ্ডে দণ্ডিত হবেন। ভ্রাম্যমাণ আদালত ইভটিজারদের একযোগে শাস্তি দেওয়ার এখতিয়ার দিয়েছে। শিক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয়ও ঘোষণা দিয়ে শুরু করেছে যে ১৩ জুন ইভ-টিজিং সুরক্ষা দিবস হিসেবে এই সামাজিক কুফলকে রক্ষা করতে উৎসাহিত করা হয়।
