What does it mean to be youtuber?

The YouTube platform was created in 2005 by three former PayPal employees as a video sharing website. In 2006 it was acquired by Google and a year later it was internationalized when translated into different languages. The platform was profitable through the insertion of advertisements.

Since then, the platform has had spectacular success , to the point that 10 videos per second are uploaded to YouTube . All this has been motivated by several circumstances: the possibility of communicating content through the video format, an economic and promotional possibility for many people, and the decline of traditional television.

We must take into account the demands of the public that satisfies YouTube. On the one hand there is the demand for utility , through product reviews (review), educational videos, courses, how to do something (cooking, DIY, etc.); and on the other hand, the demand for leisure , watching videos of all kinds, music videos, short films, documentaries, movies, etc.

One of the causes of the rise of YouTube, which a few years ago was unthinkable, is the huge drop in the audience of traditional television. The majority of the public prefers on the one hand the viewing of video platforms on the Internet or pay-TV and the letter, such as the well-known multimedia content platforms, which even have their own series.

YouTube is not the only video platform on the Internet. There are also other alternative platforms , where you can also earn money by monetizing videos, such as Vimeo , DailyMotion , Disney Digital Network , Flickr , Viddler , Twitch , etc.

And you also have to keep in mind that the possibilities of a video go far beyond video platforms. Since the video format, in addition to being able to be used in blogs and web pages, it is also widely used and shared on social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, or Vine.
